ROBOT WELDING

General Information

What is robotic welding?

Robot welding is an automated welding process in which an industrial robot performs the welding work. Welding joins two or more parts together. The welding robots are pre-programmed according to the requirements of the product being processed.

What are the benefits of robotic welding?

1. Accuracy & quality: The advantage of a programmed robot is the consistent production process it guarantees. The robot performs the same operation for every product, ensuring consistent weld quality without requiring process adjustments.

2. Speed: Welding robots reduce lead times compared with traditional manual welding. The operator handles logistics while the robot performs the welding. This creates an efficient production process.

3. Cost savings: Minimal labour, repeatable operations, consistent quality and increased speed reduce costs significantly compared with traditional manual welding.

How do I know whether robotic welding is suitable for my product or project?

At VDL VDS, we are happy to help determine whether robotic welding is the right solution. Based on factors such as batch size, product geometry, tolerances and quality requirements, we advise whether robotic welding offers added value over manual welding.

Our specialists analyse your product or design and identify where automation can improve consistency, efficiency and costs. Together, we develop the best and most future-proof solution for your project.

VDL VDS Technical Industry

At VDL VDS, we combine craftsmanship with advanced automation. Robotic welding produces high-quality welds with consistent quality and precision. This makes the process ideal for series production and products with strict dimensional and finishing requirements.

Our modern welding robots deliver outstanding repeatability and efficiency. Our specialists continuously monitor quality and process control. From an early stage, we help you optimise your product’s design and manufacturability. This enables us to get the most from robotic welding.

Whether it concerns complex assemblies or large production runs, robotic welding at VDL VDS provides a reliable, scalable and cost-efficient solution.

Automated welding with maximum control

At VDL VDS, we combine robotic welding with smart fixtures, advanced programming and precise process control. Using tools developed in-house and a standardised approach, we create a stable and repeatable welding process, regardless of product complexity or batch size.

Our approach ensures every welded joint is produced with the same precision and quality. This minimises deviations and increases the reliability of the final product. At the same time, we remain flexible. We can respond quickly to changes in design or production without compromising quality or efficiency.

This combination of automation, expertise and process control enables us to use robotic welding effectively for simple and complex assemblies. It delivers consistent output and predictable results.

From Idea to Series Production

We provide input during the design phase to make products suitable for robotic welding. Early optimisation delivers:

  • more consistent welding quality
  • shorter lead times
  • lower production costs

Where needed, we combine robotic welding with other processes. This enables efficient production of complete assemblies.
