Sustainability & CSR
Reducing CO2 emissions is one of the most urgent tasks of our time. To achieve this, the entire chain of processes must be examined, diving deeper into all factors that contribute negatively to CO2 emissions. Examples include increasing (unnecessary) waste streams, inefficient purchasing strategies, and the use of fosil fuels.
Not only the impact on the environment is important. The welfare of society and business operations in accordance with the desired ethical standards and values are also important. Ethical responsibility acts as a moral compass that guides decisions within our organization. This includes integrity, honesty, respect, and taking responsibility for your actions.

That is why VDL VDS acts proactively in the areas of sustainability and corporate social responsibility. This is achieved through long-term and short-term operational measures, as set out in our sustainability program. VDL VDS implements these measures throughout the entire process chain.
VDL VDS also strives to have a positive impact on society by offering good working conditions, promoting diversity and inclusion, and supporting local communities.
Metasure and manage
In order to measure and manage the total CO2 footprint, which is essential for achieving the targets, the impact of VDL VDS's business operations can be divided into three different pillars, also referred to as scopes:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources that are owned by the company.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy used by the company.
- Scope 3: All indirect emissions that occur in the company's value chain.
Short-term and long-term objectives and improvements are defined for each scope. Regular monitoring, assessments, and evaluations help determine whether these objectives are achieved and specific action plans are formulated.
